A model can be on the list if it is a maker's own release, not a re-tune or merge, has a file a Mac can run, and either LM Arena has rated it, two other boards have tested it, or it is on Outmake's own list.

Quality is where the model stands across the boards that tested it. Its LM Arena rating (CC BY 4.0) is placed between the lowest- and highest-rated open model and counts twice, because people judged it blind. Each other board counts once, placed between its own lowest and highest score: Aider polyglot, LiveBench, MMLU-Pro, GPQA Diamond, Humanity's Last Exam, SWE-bench Verified, Terminal-Bench 2.0, AIME 2026 and MMMU-Pro. Where nothing has tested a model on Outmake's list yet, Outmake's estimate is used, less five points. Momentum is where it stands among Hugging Face's trending models. A model gets full marks for being new in its first month and none after six. No maker takes more than two places.
